National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, invites applications from eligible candidates for recruitment of 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Civil Engineering. This is a project-based position funded by ANRF (ANRF/ECRG/2024/005933/ENS) with a tenure of two years or until project completion, whichever is earlier. The application deadline is 30 November 2026, and candidates must apply via email.
Overview
NIT Silchar is recruiting for a Junior Research Fellow position dedicated to a significant research initiative on geothermal energy resources. The project, titled "An experimental and numerical investigation of the mechanical properties of geothermal reservoir rocks and the fluid flow from hot springs in the Tawang region of Arunachal Pradesh, North Eastern India," is led by Dr. Dinesh P, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. This role offers a valuable opportunity for researchers interested in geothermal energy, rock mechanics, and fluid dynamics to contribute to an applied research project addressing renewable energy potential in India's northeastern region.
The position is located at NIT Silchar's Department of Civil Engineering campus in Assam. As a research-focused role, the JRF will work on both experimental investigations and computational modeling, providing hands-on experience in advanced research methodologies and project management. The project is funded by ANRF (Atma Nirbhar Bharat Research Grant Programme), ensuring institutional support and access to laboratory facilities and resources.
